Scared To Debt Goes To Hollywood

The “Scared To Debt” replay is no longer available, however, if you are an educator looking to schedule a screening contact Book Screening

The issue of student loan debt forgiveness is a hot topic in the news today and has become a question of economic, racial, and social justice in America. USC Casden Institute and USC School of Cinema Arts presents a screening of the award-winning documentary SALLIE MAE NOT with a panel discussion of diverse perspectives to follow. Join us to reflect on how we came to this point as a society and to explore solutions to this crisis that continues to destroy the lives of millions of Americans today. SALLIE MAE NOT, episode one of the SCARED TO DEBT documentary series, is the untold story of how the United States government set up a system of greed that gutted student loans of fair lending and consumer protections leading to the skyrocketing cost of tuition and indenturing millions of people through predatory lending. We discuss the myriad of ways in which student debt affects their lives and well-being, drawing on both Jewish values and American ethics.  This event is Free. Donate to the Scared To Debt Series.
